Why Bébé Voyage Loves Sydney
With an awesome mandatory government paid parental leave scheme, Australia understands the importance of balancing family life. You’ll find some of the coolest parent rooms, many decked out with TVs (for the breastfeeding mums), changing tables, kid play areas, private feeding rooms and microwaves to warm bottles.
Probably one of this city’s greatest appeals is the constant sunshine. Even in winter, the sun comes out to play and maintains lovely day temperatures hovering around the 16°C/60°F mark. This makes Sydney an ideal place for outdoor fun with many coastal walks, city-centric bush walks, ocean activities and al-fresco dining, all catering to the brilliant weather.
Sydneysiders have been said to be some of the friendliest people you’ll meet. If you’re feeling lost, anyone on the street will be glad to give you directions and may even show you around. Sydneysiders love showing off their city and want visitors to have a fabulous trip. So get out there and enjoy it.

Learn More About Traveling to Sydney
With a population of nearly 5 million people, Sydney is the largest city in Australia. With over 40% of its population born overseas now calling Australia home, Sydney is an incredibly multicultural and diverse city.
Sydney has great changing rooms, also known as parents’ room. Any large shopping centre will have some pretty cool changing rooms where you can push in your entire pram, not just one person at a time. Many changing rooms are actual rooms with comfortable chairs for breastfeeding, TVs to keep you entertained, microwaves to warm bottles, a few different change areas for more than one baby and sometimes a play area for the other siblings.
With a baby carrier, you can head almost anywhere. The beaches in Sydney are lively throughout the year and packed with families and kids. Enjoy a coffee, watch the surfers hitting the waves, enjoy fish and chips under the sun, or walk along the beach. Parasols are recommended, as well as sunscreen, as the sun in Sydney is extremely strong. It is important to look for the red, yellow or green flags if you are swimming as the waves and current of the Pacific Ocean can be dangerous for both little ones and adults.
There are a variety of walks around Sydney and some great picnic areas. Small little walks are good for the little ones and make you feel like you’re out in the bush when you’re really only a few kilometers from the city.
Casual dining in Sydney is largely child-friendly. Cafés and restaurants usually try to do all they can to be accommodating. Most have high chairs and outside seating if you have a pram. Cafés may have a change area but it’s hit-or- miss. Bars and pubs typically don’t have change rooms.
You may not always get a kids menu, but you will always find a babycino (just frothy milk with chocolate sprinkles or some marshmallows but it’s nice to keep the baby busy!). Pubs are more likely to have a dedicated kids menu. Brunch times are probably better than dinner given the time, but most dinner places are just as accommodating.
