Why Bébé Voyage Loves The Middle East

Mention you are traveling to the Middle East and you are bound to get either looks of jealousy and excitement or stares of confusion. For anyone who has had the opportunity to live or visit the Middle East, they will tell you that it is an absolutely wonderful place to travel with young children. Besides it actually being one of the safest places in the world (Abu Dhabi just got ranked as the #1 safest city in the world with both Doha and Dubai trailing closely behind) the people are friendly, love children, and welcome visitors with open arms. The Middle Eastern culture is one of hospitality, so don’t be surprised if you get asked to sit for tea in the shops, have long conversations about your family, or even invited to a 3rd cousin’s wedding. The opportunities for unique experiences in The Middle East are endless and memories that your children will remember for a lifetime. From riding camels in the Empty Quarter to seeing a bright orange sunset 124 floors up in the Burj Khalifa to floating in the Dead Sea, there is literally something for everyone in your family in this exotic region of the World.

While not usually high on people’s must-see places, the Middle East is an excellent choice for a trip with younger children. Four and five star resorts that cater to families, playgrounds and parks abound, amusement parks, splash pads, restaurants with kid corners, afternoon tea catered to kids, and endless family events make the Middle East region a great family destination. The beach is another great spot to take the kids to while visiting the area. The waters are always warm and calm and usually filled with families. You can rent a Dhow boat and watch the sunset over the water or take a quick tour at night and let the kids be amazed by the neon lights that decorate the boats. It is impossible to sum up the Middle East and it would be a great disservice to assume the area is all the same. Each country and city in the Middle East has something special and memorable that are must-see sights and experiences. Petra (don’t forget to see it during the day AND at night!) and the Dead Sea in Jordan, walking the streets of the Old City in Jerusalem, The Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, Skiing in Dubai (there is a younger kids area as well if yours are too small for skiing), the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, the Cloud Forests in Salalah.

These are just a few of the countless stops that should be must-sees on your Middle Eastern adventure. The history of the Middle East is also just as vast and diverse as the countries that call it home. It has a past that includes some of the earliest civilizations of mankind and it’s modern day is seeing some of the best universities (Georgetown), museums (The Louvre) and architecture (Burj Khalifa) that the world has to offer. The Middle East is truly a diverse and ever-changing part of the world that offers up a great mix of history and culture for the adults and countless hours of fun for the kids.

Tips:
Most countries in the Middle East are extremely safe. However, there are still some regional conflicts going on in certain countries and outside of the Gulf region there is still moderate crime. (The Gulf still has small amounts of crime, but it is so extremely rare that the cities there always make the safest cities list) Just always be sure to check advisories before you travel.
