Sheldon Country Farm & Park

Location: Old Rectory Farm Ragley Drive | Ragley Drive, Sheldon, Birmingham B26 3TU, England

Discovered by: Lauren, a mum who lives in Solihull and runs the blog Sophie’s Nursery, was driving around one day down the main road when she saw a small, brown signpost and decided to take a look.

Why We Love It: In the middle of a very busy, built up area of Birmingham, this country park is a lovely retreat. It has lots of things to do for the whole family, and–best of all–it’s totally free! It’s ideal for small children and has a wonderful tea room.

Why It’s Kid-Friendly: This urban farm has plenty of animals to check out, a large play area, a cafe for drinks and ice cream, a large park, and a grassland/wetland area where the airplanes from Birmingham airport fly over, very low down as they land. Kids love watching the airplanes as they are so close.

Tips & Important Details: There is a small car park at the end of the access road. The farm is pretty stroller-friendly and a nice place to take a picnic to enjoy after the kids run around and play.

Cost: FREE!

Kids are always hungry! Know anywhere to eat nearby?: The farm has a cafe which serves hot & cold food. Their sandwiches and coffees are delicious and very affordable. You can also bring a picnic or some small snacks.

About Lauren: She is mum to one daughter, Sophie, who is two years old. They live in Solihull and dream about taking a family trip on a South African safari.
