Best Breakfast Spot in Aix les Bains

La Bicolette – it’s in one of the only pedestrianized squares in town and as such, you can let your little ones wander a bit! But the best bit is that there is no plastic in sight and the best pain au chocolat’s!

Morning Cycle

We like to hire a bike and cycle around the bottom of the lake (or take your pushchair). Right at the bottom, there is a fantastic splash pad with a view of the whole of France’s largest natural lake, Lac du Bourget.

Lunch at Le Saint Inn

The gorgeous views and being so family-friendly make it the perfect lunch spot! There’s even a little playhouse in the garden. There’s also a little beach, so pack your swimming stuff.

An Afternoon to Remember

Make some time and take a boat across the lake to Hautcombe Abbey. It is a gorgeous building, full of history and perfect to spend an afternoon. All the Kings of Savoie (and according to my husband therefore Italy) are buried there.

Winding Down

You cannot go to France and not have a crêpe. Our favorite is at the crêperie the Skiff Pub (handily in the port next to the bateaux dock).

Off the Beaten Path

If you have a car, we love going up Le Revard, there are some fabulous walks and the view from the restaurant at Les Quatres Vallees is superb, in the summer or winter (very cute little ski area there too – perfect for beginners!).
